Michelle Palmer Leaves Her Mark

Yup. There she is. That is none other than Michelle Palmer, artist extraordinaire and fabric designer caught in the act of drawing on the wall (and ceiling). But it’s okay because she’s in the bathroom at O’Susannah’s Quilts & Gifts (Sue’s shop). And when you’re in the bathroom for the first time at O’Susannah’s it is encouraged, might I say, even expected, that you are to write on the wall or ceiling, leaving your Jane Hancock behind. Lucky for us and for your future visits, Michelle has left us a picture of a couple of her fine feathered friends.

O'Susannah's Quilt Shop Guest Book

A little corner of the bathroom at O’Susannah’s where you can sign your name. It’s kind of like a giant guest book.

I’ve known Michelle for a while now and not only is she one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, I think her work is adorable and I think you probably will, too. Michelle draws and paints and from those talents come sweet pen and ink illustrations that decorate fabric pieces and her watercolors are exquisite and end up on calendars, all kinds of stationery, cute little needle-felted animal friend, and fabric!

Oh – and did I mention Michelle is a “Palmyra Girl,” as Sue likes to call the females that come into the shop from her hometown (and mine) of Palmyra, NY?

Just one little example of Michelle’s original pen and ink drawings on fabric that she sells on Etsy at http://www.michellepalmer.etsy.com. Many of Michelle’s customers have incorporated these sweet little pieces into their quilts.

Sue and Michelle are trying to work out scheduling for you to meet her at the shop. Michelle’s insight into color and design is fantastic and her process from concept to art to fabric is really interesting. We will let you know when she’s next in the shop!
